my 2024 art look-back

^* Every year, at the end of december, artists on the internet post their "art summaries of the year".

^* It's a nice way to look back on what we've achieved and how we've improved in the last 12 months.

^* Usually that's done by picking 1 drawing from each month and compiling them into a single image to post on social media.

^* I did that for the last couple of years, but this time I've decided to look back at the year as a whole, paying attention also to the unfinished stuff.

January

^* I was really busy and tired through the whole month of january, so I only managed to get a few doodles done.

^* I had started a drawing at the very beginning of the month which was supposed to be the first one of the year to be completed but I couldn't manage to work on it after the first week of january.

February

^* As soon as february started I rushed to finish the new year drawing in time for the lunar new year.

^* Because the outline-less art style I was going for at the beginning would have taken too long to finish, I started the drawing almost from scratch, going for a limited 4-color palette instead.

^* I then proceded to get art blocked for the rest of the month. cool.

March

^* March was a nice, eventful month for me. Didn't draw a lot tho.

^* In the first half of the month I made a tardis painting with oil pastels and doodled Mappy and Goro the whole time.

^* I then started experimenting with comics.

April

^* I wanted to find a quick and easy way to make comics digitally, while making them look like they are drawn with markers on paper.

^* I wrote a short comic during all this to develop the process, but then I kept rewriting it and it got longer and longer and I ended up never actually drawing it. bruh

^* I did draw smaller test comics, tho.

May

^* Lots of drawings this month!

^* The second episode of The Amazing Digital Circus released so Gummigoo occupied my brain for a week.

^* Then I redesigned my sona slightly. I took off their clothes, added eyelashes and a choker. 🤨🏳️‍🌈❓

^* For 3 days straight I only drew Vivian from Paper Mario cus she's cool.

^* OC drawing to end the month.

June

^* Wanted to make a drawing about Sutekh rizzing the Tardis based on the Series 14 finale, spent the entire month working on it but I never reached a result I was happy with so it remained unfinished. Bummer.

July

^* Drawing of my ocs. I couldn't draw a decent background so it remained unfinished.

^* Made other doodles.

August

^* Can't draw a background? Put your characters in the backrooms!

^* On tumblr I found the account circadianrhythmofthekiller, and that inspired me to draw my own fanart Of The Killer.

^* Here's some of my favourites:

September

^* Started the month by properly drawing a new design for Core (wanted to do that back in february) and drawing Felix the Cat (wanted to do that since june).

^* hot knuckles

^* Cosplayed at a comic fair as the 12th Doctor with my friend who went as a Weeping Angel. Made a silly drawing about it.

^* Bought a Shadow plushie at that fair to go with my Sonic plush I had bought back in 2023. So I was in a sonadow mood.

^* Around september 10th it was announced that Cohost would enter read-only mode on october 1st, and that the servers would be shut down at the end of 2024.

^* Cohost was my favourite place to post my stuff, and I was really saddened to learn this.

^* I made a last drawing to share there before the ability to post was disabled.

October

^* October is my month. I drew my sona a lot and made a Pump mask (from Spooky Month) for halloween.

^* I almost finished this drawing of VaDaPEGA's Pantufa the Cat in the Sonic Boom art style but I took a break from it and never went back to complete it. I did that a lot this year. I WILL finish it, eventually.

November

^* Doodled my OCs Floof & Moffio throughout the month to fine-tune their designs. And modeled a tardis while learning Blender in school.

December

^* Christmas is in the air and I turned myself into a reindeer.

^* I watched TADC Ep.4 and got the motivation to finish that drawing from may.

^* Started this drawing of my oc that I'm still working on. Technically, it's an unfinished drawing from 2024 so I'm putting it here.

^* Overall, I'm really proud of what I've made this year.

^* I would have liked to do more, and I got art block many times throughout the year, but I feel like my skills have improved from 2023 and that's what matters.
